Humanizing Digital Twins
Enable broader public participation by allowing anyone to ideate and visualize changes. Facilitate better planning and decision-making by providing comprehensive, data-driven insights. Build trust and transparency between planners and the community by making planning processes more open and understandable.
A three-step process
An initiative to deploy Participatory AI
The initial workshop series
The EXPLORE phase consists of two workshops aiming to introduce Participatory AI and discover the potential of AI-driven tools to enhance digital twins, making them more accessible and interactive for a wider audience.
Outcome
At the end of this session, participants will have a clear understanding of how AI can transform digital twins into dynamic, user-friendly platforms that foster inclusive urban development.
A use case for GovTech development
The PILOT phase aims to translate the insights gained during the EXPLORE phase into practical, real-world applications. This phase focuses on developing and testing initial prototypes to demonstrate the value of integrating AI with digital twin technology.
Outcome
By the end of this phase, participants will have tangible examples of how AI-enhanced digital twins can be used to improve urban planning and public engagement.
A program to make the new technology the norm
The INTEGRATE phase focuses on scaling the successful pilot projects and fully integrating AI-enhanced digital twin technology into urban planning processes.
Outcome
This phase aims to establish a seamless, scalable, and sustainable integration, ensuring long-term benefits for urban planning and public engagement.
Workshop program | In-person
Successful cities are those that can reimagine themselves.
This workshop will enable us to learn and explore how to integrate Participatory AI into our urban planning processes, democratizing access and empowering all citizens to contribute to the future of their cities.
This workshop series represents a unique opportunity to lead the way in modern urban planning. By integrating Participatory AI into the digital twin, we can create a more inclusive, engaging, and forward-thinking planning process. Join us in this innovative journey, empowering your team with the skills and knowledge to shape the cities of tomorrow.
Cities that successfully integrate collective intelligence into their planning processes become more resilient, inclusive, and adaptable. By leveraging Participatory AI, we can gather diverse perspectives, ensuring that urban development reflects the needs and aspirations of all citizens.
This workshop series introduces a new method to make digital twins accessible and engaging for everyone, not just experts. Participants will learn how to use AI-driven tools to visualize their ideas and see their potential impacts, fostering a more inclusive planning process.
Beyond technology, this initiative is about empowering people. Participants will gain hands-on experience with advanced AI tools, enhancing their skills and preparing them to lead in modern urban planning practices. This upskilling will benefit their current roles and position them at the forefront of urban innovation.
1. INTRODUCTIONS
why are we here? The workshop will begin with a welcome from our team, followed by an engaging icebreaker activity called “Future City Scenarios.” In this activity, participants will imagine and share innovative urban planning technologies they envision for the year 2040. After the icebreaker, we will proceed with brief introductions where participants will share their names, roles, organizations, and what they hope to gain from the workshop.

2. PARTICIPATORY AI
What is it?An introductory masterclass on Participatory AI and its application by cities and organizations worldwide today. Luca Stornaiuolo, the AI developer of UrbanistAI, will provide an overview of generative AI models and the construction and deployment of participatory AI (joins via video call). Damiano Cerrone (in person) will present how cities and organizations are using Participatory AI in planning and public engagement worldwide; or used the technology to innovate their government practices.
